Hows it going Steve?
Gotta get back to work on the 3400, and now my S25DA is going lean as it warms up.
Always something with that one.

What paint is used on the 4000? I checked compression and spark. White spark and 140psi. Saw was last run about 2004. Bought new in 85 and cut for 19 years

Paint is a good question. Get a part scanned and choose what kind of paint you want.
Seals and bearings are easy as they cross to currently made parts.
Other parts are as you find them. Rings are getting scarce as are starter pulleys.

Thanks Fossil, I read in this post that someone was manufacturing rings. Anyone?

Thanks Fossil, I read in this post that someone was manufacturing rings. Anyone?

That line of saws typically have pretty low compression. Squish on those is usually about 0.040"

If it's at 140 psi I think you're good to go. It will run strong at that number.

Aftermarket seals for those are SKF CR6119 and CR6120 as well as National 253747. The National seals tend to have a case diameter a little more than .001" larger than the SKF seals and can be tougher to seat.
National is now owned by Timken.

The bearings are BH-108 full compliment drawn cup needle bearings. They tend to be a bit sloppy and most I've checked (new and used) have a radial play around .005".

I can PM you a link to a good repair manual if you want.
