The tillotson hk carbs had the plastic block that housed the needle and seat. That block would wear or warp and cause flooding issues. Most of the zamas use on the 1125 series of saw are good carbs.

Doc nailed it! Thanks

Pia... that muffler spacer and cans. I ran into the muffler spacer dilemma when building basket cases from boxes.

Yep, same. I frequently use them on 064/660 muffler conversions.

036 Pro has some of the 360 updates. I like both air filter styles but your tank vent/ carb studs may dictate what type you can use. I sometimes use half of a mesh filter with a conventional filter half on the other side. I started using that technique since I had extra filter halves around.

I did one conversion that Kevin ended up with .I thought it did just fine stock with an 036 cylinder ,Meteor piston ,Caber rings .The top cover didn't fit exactly right and I used spacers on the muffler .He has more Stihl parts than I do and I'm not exactly sure what he did after that .That's been some time ago now but he's got it back a few times on trades and said it was still doing okay . I have an 034 Super that I think has a little scuff I've yet to do anything with .It runs okay but I have so many saws it just takes up shelf space at the moment .

Could we get a couple of cylinder pics on that saw. Inner and outer pics please apply. Thanks, Tim

Here’s the cylinder pics. Love to hear what you all have to say about this one. No scratches whatsoever. I want you reuse it. The pop up piston did not equate to hi compression unfortunately. Whoever thought of it had the right idea though

Just like Doc said. KS plating//cylinder is lighter, brighter in color. I am curious if it is a 46 or 48mm bore. I think the exhaust port edges//plating need a little debur and something has made an impression on the floor of the exhaust port. It looks great to me a very useable. I'm no expert by any means. I do have an 028.Super, and a KS 034 46mm p&c. Now you have my interest on doing some checking on a 46mm assembly with pop up. Looks as if the combustion chamber can handle it. I don't know why your compression wouldn't of increased unless the squish was too great or piston timing actually lowered it. Again, Not sure if the 034 Super had a pop up from factory like the 028's. Someone will be along to advise. Thanks for taking the time my man. I'll leave it at interesting!! And knowing your bore size will help with information. Thx. Tim

It’s a 46mm bore. That’s why an 028 piston fits. It is not a super. The squish is way to big though. It didn’t even dent the solder. Compression was around 120.

Wow, That's really interesting. Guess I'll be playing with a combo. Any idea on gasket thickness under your cyl?? Thanks again sir for the info.

I tried checking squish with and without a gasket, still nothing measurable really. Such a great idea though whoever thought of it. This is my son’s saw and he says it ran good and he’s a motor guy. Bad seal is why I have it now.

Yes sir, I'll bet it was a very quick revving engine with the lower compression number.

Maybe I should rering it, delete the base gasket and use a .325 chain on it. I already have an 036, a 066 for anything big and an 026 going on the table next.

Pretty sure that’s just the super Tyrone.

I'm pretty sure the older 034 had that same mufller, and no adjustable oiler or hole in the case for adjustment. Pre 1990 I would say. Also there was a cheaper 034wb that had a front chain tensioner and plastic bar cover up untill 1991 or so.

It will Probly run better if you put the right piston back in it. Or have somebody cut the base for you. 120 psi is pretty weak
