Stihl 084 muffler repair

What would be the preferred method to repair the top bolt tabs this 084 muffler? I presume it was originally welded nuts in these locations and it currently has through bolts with shouldered nuts. The front cover is in excellent shape.

I just picked this saw up and it is pretty solid although there is certainly wear.

MIG, TIG , OXY, any competent welder should be able to repair your muffler using the welding processes mentioned.

I’d back that, float entire area with SiBr, clean up and then tack the nuts on. Tig

I find SiBr the easiest to fill large voids with.

I would weld a nut of the size you want to a washer then just weld the washer to the back of the muffler it will be stronger and be a good repair.

This is a tenable suggestion for me. The base material where the nuts pulled out is very thin and drawn out. The washer would reach good metal all the way around.

This looks like silicone bronze would be an excellent fit for this. Do you traditionally braze it or mig?

The thread is over 2 years old and I do not think Phil is active much anymore. I believe he cast it. He made steel mufflers and cast sprocket covers for the 090G also that were very good. I have a few.
