Vac & pressure testing will save your sanity! ...Best tool for saws I ever invested in. If you can't test it, you'll just have to keep trying different things I guess.

On a completely different note, love your Bruce Campbell / Army of Darkness references! ...Groovy! :)

Do you have the decomp hole plugged?

Another thing, could you check the outside diameter of the worm gear for wear grooves where it contacts the seal? I think this could be a problem on mine.

Yes decomp hole is plugged.

The worm gear has slight wear on the outside.
I bought a new after market one but it won't fit over the crank, its a few thou smaller.

I had another go but no luck.

A mate has a couple spare carbs so we are going to try one on it

I had given up on this mongrel saw.
A good mate of mine had an 088 he was having trouble with also so we swapped saws to see if we could fine each others issues.

We did.

looks like both had dud carbs.

He pulled a known good carb off his 076 and bolted it on my saw and the saw ran great!

So now I need a working carb :(

Can anyone help me with a WS 26 or similar carb to fit this old girl so I can move it on out of my life???
