Does a saw not having a serial number affect its value? I have a rounded top 066 that has the serial number ground off. I know myself and the previous owner bought it legitimately.

It does affect its value. No good reasons to ever grind off an SN on anything.

It still has a serial number on it though. There is a second spot on the mating surface of the case halves. You could get that number and verify that it's not stolen?

The case would have to be split for that.

It could also be that the saw was sold used by a dealership - Some dealers will remove serial numbers when selling
used saws so they don't have to warranty the unit or in the case of Stihls, the sale of the used unit isn't traceable
back to them. Stihl does not want their dealers selling used units and frowns on the practice.

I do have a few people interested in buying it that don’t care about the serial number. I just need to figure it a fair price. It’s 100% oem rounded top instead of flat top.

I still need to get a clutch cover, recoil label,felling dogs, tuning grommet and possibly an air filter cover. The filter cover came off a 660

Shame, nice saw, ‘98-‘01 model is my best guess. Mating half of the clutch side probably starts with 137-140 range is my other best guess off the top of my head.
