Alright not sure I’m going to sell this thing. Not even sure what it’s worth. That’s half the problem right there. Power head only.
Stihl 048 av with super cylinder. Port timing made the super vs non.
It will come with one clutch side bearing and a non super cylinder.

It has new bearings, crank, seals. New clutch drum with rim sprocket conversion kit new oil pump. All AV replaced.

In order to get rid of the SEM ignition and go to a Stihl universal ignition I had to change the crank and flywheel both new old stock.

All lines replaced when I rebuilt it about 1 year ago.

Case screws replaced with T27 while it was apart as well.
Researching while rebuilding it and getting it as easily future rebuildable as possible all the old known problems I could find were dealt with.
These were bad about loosening up. Changing to torq screws was good thing.

This I know, I actually built this saw knowing I would be UPSIDE down. Wanted to make it worth keeping. It sits on the shelf, since I now have other saws in the same range. Also kind of turning my color scheme...... won’t go there though lol

That's a very good looking clean saw you got there! Just curious what were you asking I didn't see a price listed?

Not sure what it’s worth there are not many of them around much less in the condition this one is in. I know it’s not a gold mine but it’s in good condition and freshly built.

Two years ago I would have given you $400 for it, assuming it runs well. I sold an 038 Mag for that price (shipped) four years ago. The owner who bought it still loves it. I suspect this saw has even more grunt than an 038 Mag.

Remember folks, not just the powerhead coming w a good cylinder and NOS PTO side bearing as well. Also found spare 1117 series NOS crank case gasket that will come with it.
As I said before I know I’m upside down on it but I won’t let it go for $250 with all the NOS stuff it was built with.

I also recall many guys here saying that the 048 was a vast improvement over the older 045 that was eventually replaced by the 056. Many have also said that the 048 would run dead even with the 056 and it was not until the 064 emerged that the grunt of the 048 was finally equaled.

Might have to test that theory about the grunt of a 48 vs 56 since both happen to be here. No 64 though....
