I have also had good luck freeing up seized pumps. I’ve cleaned up quite a few thrashed and worn out tree service 440/044’s and I have yet to come across one that was so worn it wouldn’t pump. It seems like in most cases it’s something else causing oiling problems. Worm gear and the metal tang on the worm gear come to mind as the most common culprits.
Only time I’ve had to actually replace an 044 oil pump was when the oil pump housing was corroded so badly that it had holes in it.
If the housing is good and the internals aren’t rusted up I’d bet that I soak in some gas or even diesel fuel over night would get it moving again.
No, something hit it and tore up the pipe and sheared off some of the housing. When I was doing a quick inventory of the stuff I needed I saw the pump and it looked complete but that was from the back. The gears turn fine but I'm afraid the housing is shot. I'll save the pump and piston for another project.
