That thing will run 20" .325 all day. Didn't bat an eye at 18" buried in beech

Yes no shortage of power with this one. Almost feel guilty running a 16 on it. I think this one should get an xxs sticker. Lol.

In an old thread titled dolmar 421 vs echo 490, pro94lt posted real world weights of the 421/543/241. All three full of fluids and 16" b/c (stihl and dolmar 3/8lp and 543 was .325nk). Stihl was 13.65 dolmar was 13.54 and 543 was 13.3. I know holding different amounts of fluids and using slightly different bar and chain combos will make a difference but being within a couple ounces of each other I don't really see how somebody could say one is much heavier than the other.

That's a great point Brent, wait are we talking about facts now:risas3:.
Not sure those are accurate or not, but I don't see a lot of different in them and I'm guessing most won't. At the end of a long day they all seem heavy to me lol.

A new out of the box Euro ps-420 sc , no fluids . Just add the bar and chain of your choice.

Delete that heavy cat saves a bit of weight as well on the 421.

Can you still buy the dolmar there. I wouldn't mind getting a red one vs the 4300 I currently have.

I had Nate (fordf150) remove the cat on my 421 before he shipped it to me. I believe he said it was seven ounces so nearly half a pound. That would put it not too much over ten pounds. Add smaller fluid capacities and a lighter 3/8 lp bar and chain and its not hard to see how a a 42 cc saw could end up 1 to 2 pound lighter than a 50 cc model. Not a huge difference but definitely noticeable running it all day . Stihl ps chain is quite the equalizer and a good 42cc saw running it won't be far off in the cut vs 50cc running .325. I've ran a 241 and I think it might hold a little more RPMs in the cut but like all dolmars the 421 has great torque and I would say they're awfully close. My 421 is always the first I grab and it does probably 75 to 80% of my work. I have bigger saws but don't usually pull them out unless they're truly needed and for me that would be when the wood gets over 16 to 18 inches or so.

Hey Brett you can always do like I did which was buy a red makita and buy the two dolmar nameplates. I think Nate might even have them in stock.

Randy is there any performance difference in the Gen1 261 cylinder vs the Gen2 cylinder ? Pros or cons to each ?

Great suggestion, then it would match my Dolly's.
I'm sure someone has a used 421 or even new laying around they don't need :D.

Was at a local dealer this afternoon. Wanted to look and see just what these 241's are. We don't carry them. They are so close in price people just pay a little bit more and step up to the 251.:risas3:

Tell them you'll pay the full 251 price but just take the 241 instead. :)
