Clueless so please excuse the ignorance.
Playing with the Simington grinder.
First attempts were pretty much a disaster. I think the wheel was too thick so I dressed it using the angles set by the previous owner.
Still getting into the tie strap and out of adjustment to lower the swing arm.
Can I dress the wheel thinner or am I even on the right track by doing so?

Salmon wheel was on the grinder when I got it. Removes a lot of material in a hurry.

This is an old round ground chain to practice on.

The lower part of the stone should be around 0.1" thick so you shouldn't need to dress it any skinnier.

The second chain picture you can see a definite side beak which means you need to advance the chain forward on the puck but then set the side stops to not go in as deep into the stone.
