My little Estwing Fireside Friend does great on small stuff, but I need a longer handle splitter as well. Found a Seymour brand 6 pounder on Fleabay for $21.95 shipped so I ordered one for me and one for my best friend. They look respectable and are supposed to be USA made. Anybody have experience with this brand? I 'spose it will be fine as long as it splits and the head doesn't fly off!

Gave the axe a try today on some Elm logs around 14" in diameter. This particular tree has been dead for awhile so the wood is good and dry. The new axe split it all no problem, as expected. The six pound head is less tiring to use than the seven and eight pound heads I have used in the past. For a bit over $20.00 shipped to my door I am quite happy with it. Also used the Fireside Friend today, will write about it in that thread.
