We have a budget chainsaw challenge happening here on an Aussie chainsaw facebook page.
Rules:
3 week limit from purchase to end.
$150 limit, anything to do with the saw needs to be bought in the $150
Make video introducing ourselves, the saw and show how well it cuts.
Wining saw will be voted for by all page members.
All saws will be available for sale for $100 at end of comp.

Here is my entry.
58cc china saw, ported and muffler baffler cut out, opened out the filter intake manifold from the filter.
Ditched the .058 crap chain and got an Archer full chisel 325 .063 chain that fit the bar better.

The digs at Dolmars are juts a sledge at the bloke running it, its what we Aussies do.
I think Dolmars are great, but he was bagging out the china saw haha

Tony, what needed to be done to fit an 066 carb on an 044, and how much does it help?

A fair bit.
I tried relocating the studs but had issues with them not gripping and spinning when I tried to tighten the nuts.
I drilled the studs and pinned them which worked till one of the studs stripped the thread, then the whole tank handle was rooted.
got a new chinese handle, ran with the stock mounts, bit of bending of the throttle rod to make it work.
Had to shorten and bend over the choke rod to make it work.
had to grind a lot of plastic off the inside of the filter mounting plate. It comes within a few mm of sealing as the WJ carb us a lot deeper.
HAd to drill a lower hole in the side to get a screw driver to the LA screw.
038 fuel line trimmed to length both ends to suit as an impulse line
066 fuel like with 90 deg bend and a bit of fuel line to the carb.
Also need to chop some from the side of the tank handle to make room for the carb fuel barb,

other than that its easy!

I tried fitting an 066 boot but the angle on the 044 intake kinks the boot and cleses it off.
I ended up sticking with the 044 boot which is not as open but sits better than the 066 boot.

Difference.......... BIG inflow advantage but still very tunable
I plan to do this to my 044 work saw, its workable enough to be reliable day to day working.

The hybrid I am planning will probably get a carb off an MS880
