A little back ground frist. I enjoyed learning about porting saws and only play around with my own stuff. Max number of saws would be maybe two a year? I use a Dremel now with just your Home Depot bits. I don't have a flex shaft or a right angle. I've seen a lot of homemade/repurposed tools for doing different chainsaw work just didn't know if anybody had more to add to porting.

Building or making tools and jigs sometimes is just as fun as doing actual work.

IMG_0381.JPG Best budget final polish I've found is a cheap mini buffing wheel with valve grinding compound.

Be careful...I tried these. Collets don't want to seen to stay tight enough letting the bits wander out. Bits kept bending on me when I'd turn the speed up. Took about two quick sessions with it..ended up in the trash, after taking flight across my back yard.

IMG_0382.JPG I do all my porting sitting on this shaving bench. Built for using a draw knife, it's perfect height to set the cylinder on the lip or I can adjust the jaw and clamp it in any position. Your foot pushes on the petal and closes the jaw. And I Always wear a good headlight, makes porting so much easier when you can see.
