I was wondering what it costs to have a saw ported. A work saw type build not a racer. Mostly used for felling.
I would guess like base cut, work on intake, exhaust and transfers. Not sure if timing would need to be advanced. Muffler opened or matched to port work. The saws that I have that to work with are stihl 044/046
Husqvarna 266,272, 181, 281/288, or 371 372. Typically running 24 to 28 inch bars maybe 32. In fir and pine.

Steve's saw shop in Lolo does some pretty solid port work, maybe not as good as Mastermind, XS or rattler, but he is pretty fair. He did a 371 for me years ago and from my knowledge the saw is still running in the hands of a firewooder

No, No, No, I keep telling the guy next door, and my brother, that a saw is NOT a farming implement, and that it should be kept OUT OF THE DIRT, but they never seem to listen.

" I just touched a rock with it, it is not that bad"!!!

That said, I love ported saws.

Unfortunately, the shipping back and forth also adds to the cost of porting, but a well ported saw is NICE.

Some saws benefit more from porting than others. For example, the first saw I had ported was an 046 because it would not out cut my 044. It sure as heck did after it was ported, especially with the longer bars in hardwood.

Just pipe it. @Red97 proved that. Now port and pipe is what you need.
