So any of you pro porters or guys who get real into porting saws ever do a poulan 4200,or 5200 series saws? Do they respond well to it? I love these saws, very impressed with there power in stock form. Just curious if grinders squeezed anymore out of em.

Any saw can respond to porting.

The factory trades off maximum performance for emissions, fuel economy and durability. As porters, we trade off the latter three for the first one.

Basically the 4200-8500 series in particular, is it a "these are actually not bad port wise" or are they "what a mess, what were they thinking" type. I would sometime be interested in having a 4200 done if i can find another one. Id like to learn how to do it myself, but a 4200 isnt one to try and fail on.
