I have a high mileage 038 here with a good deal of carb spitback.

Time for a new piston?

Saw runs and cuts fine.

SOME spit back is normal....if the saw is soaking your hand from spit back it's time for a new piston as the bottom of the skirt is worn down and not sealing properly. Not gonna hurt anything, just might run funny. I'd run it until she's tired and then do a piston, rings, and reseal.

Paid $250 for the lot.
Ordered new OEM clutch springs, clutch would grab the drum at 2,000 rpm. Bar rails need some love and some of the chains are near junk.
Pulls hard.
