I can try? I have to admit I’m very out of my element in that regard. I went to put the tach (Stihl edt-9) on it but it ran out of daylight

Ok had some more time to play with this thing, in my inexperienced in saw repair mind it still seems like an air leak? The saw hunts a lot at idle. low screw 2 turns out idle just touching the throttle then another 1/4 turn in
Already had the tilotson 216 ultra sonic cleaned and diaphragm still looked good, felt soft, the gaskets on the intake manifold looked a little suspect
I took a video but don’t know how to upload it

Sounds like it needs crankshafts seals which is common on those old Huskies if they haven't been gone through recently.

Well I would wager it’s all original, there’s a couple of strange fixes here and there but everything so far has been OEM. I was looking at that thread already David, the skills of the people there far surpass mine, looks like I’ll have to shelf this saw until I can slow up on the work and devote proper time to it

So now that I'm not working 7-9 for a bit I got to put some time at this. This week I’ve put the new crank seals in and seems to have fixed the airleak,
I also pulled the tank and the one pin for the trigger fell out on one side, looking at a parts diagram it shows rubber (av I assume) mounts keeping the pin in place. Are these necessary? And do I need the tool to put them in?
Thanks

This is the section I was talking about. The whole tank assembly is already pretty thrashed but there’s no dampers or sign of something being threaded in. So maybe it’s just wallered out

There is a special fork tool for installing the mounts but I don't believe the rubber mount holds the pin in place? It's been a while since I have had that chassis apart though.

No thinking about it now it wouldn’t help nothing. I’ll have to see what caused the pin to fall out in the first place

Also I noticed this bar stud is loose in. I tried to pull it in by using the clutch cover and bar nuts but no dice. Am I looking at splitting the case to replace the studs? Right side case is screwed?

Don't quote me on this but the studs are usually threaded or the press in ones you can fish through the oil tank

The head of the stud is square and fit inside the case with a slot or a casting. Spin it to line up and use some long rod or something to tap it out. Mine even felt in completely lol. Use a light and see in the oil fill hole and you’ll know.

They keep falling out so drop out of tank and punch a few points on rhe shaft so they bind themselves in.
Reinstall by tying some cotton on the lug end and drop in and pull into the case tight

Mine did the same. I used epoxy. And gentle with it when taking bars on or off. It won’t fall in with bar and chain mounted on anyway.

I’m assuming tech steel or similar would also work? I’m mainly worried about it leaking oil but I bet the bar plate and bar, chain being on stop that anyways?

At lease the glue should be oil proof I guess. But oil seems won’t leak out around the stud if it’s just a hair loose.

As long as it oils the bar and not my floorboards I’m happy.
Im dying to see this saw finally run but I got covid bad enough I don’t have the wind to pull it now
