Just because the 572 has 6203 sized bearings ain't really the same have it having a 395 bottom end.....is it?

Same crankshaft? Nope.

572 has an inboard clutch too.....

The 572 balanced better with the 28. Both seemed to oil it well. I used both saws ripping the test wood into a cant. The 572 clears noodles better.

I knew the crank was not the same, being inboard clutch and all, but I was under the impression that it was just as beefy as a 395 crank, same size big end. Is this not the case? Inquiring minds want to know.

So...current Stihl owners get the 572 and current Husqvarna owners get the 462 and everybody is happy? :)
I’m a husky fan but yes it sounds like you’re correct. Stihl made a light saw that is quick. Husky made a heavy duty machine. I like quick. So for the first time ever I’d buy the stihl.

The husky sounds almost like it has a muffler mod.

The husky sounds faster, with that higher pitch sound, I just couldn't listen to that all day. The Stihl is just buzzing along at a nice comfortable tone. I just hope the muffler mod doesn't change the sound of that note too much.

Have you heard it in person? It’s a tad louder than a stock 562 from what I remember running Bob’s. Stock saws are quiet to me. A oe 372 ported is pretty loud. DP cover on a 461 is loud too.

I did time the 12" cuts. The Stihl was a touch faster. Both averaged about 4.5 seconds though. Not a lot of difference.

I think the 462 will be the stronger saw once it's dialed in and loosened up.
Yah ... I’m all for new technology but imho STIHL is dropping the ball replacing the 461 with the 462cm ... they should’ve called it the 442cm ... it’s down on displacement from the 461 and won’t produce the juice given similar mods imho... The 572xp as well as the 462cm are nice offerings but to the best of my knowledge will be expensive here in the states (whenever they become available lol ) ... I’m not tryin to rain on anyone’s parade just giving one man’s opinion ...
