So, working on a saw I’ve avoided for years. (Literally built and repaired 1000’s of saws) Just helping out a broke ass friend by putting a piston in his 391.
My question: you guys using something like Dirko HT to re-seal the cylinder to the case? I do machine work and use gaskets, not very familiar with what works for this lame design.

Yes. Dirko or similar.

Some of the anaerobic sealers don’t bond well to the plastics, but Dirko, Yamabond, Threebond, motoseal all seem to work.
