As a vintage saw enthusiast, I am curious what oil ratio everyone runs in their old saws.

Gone are the days of 16:1 with 30wt. dino oil.

I am having good luck with non-ethanol fuel and R50 synthetic@ 40:1

Just pulling this outta my arse here but I'm assuming the retro oils burned more compete than synthetics today which burn at a higher temperature so the use of more oil was necessary to keep bearings and rings wet.

My 056 tunes better with 32:1 so that is what it gets.

I think it is more interesting to read what doesn't work. And the aftereffects. Everybody has their own preference and they all swear by it. So from my perspective it just doesn't really matter. I'll kick it off myself. What ever you do, don't use 4 stroke mixing oil. That only works half a tank. Didn't know it existed untill I accidently used it.

Whatever you do DON'T use Opti2! Tried it for a while, cost me a Lawn Boy Duraforce short block. Big end rod bearing grenaded.
