I thought it'd be fun to see what logging equipment you all use. So ill start. Below is our newest addition, a 2015 KMC 2500 track skidder. Next is my first machine, a 1985 Treefarmer C5D cable machine with a screamin' 3-53 and lastly our 2005 Peterbilt 379 with a 600 Horse Cat, 18spd and Prentice 124 built by Hubler Bros. in PA.

Now lets see what y'all have.

we need videos of that KMC

I can do that.. I'll try to get my wife to come out to the job and take some videos, it's hard to film while operating! Right now were doing a job with some pretty steep ground, big pine, big ugly soft maple and some big ash, so it'll make for some good vids..

I like the rams on the grapple would crunch packs of logs together i reckon , how much rougher are tracks compared to tyres ?

Well now you have! It helps keep the front end down pulling steep grades with a hitch. It also helps to keep more track on the ground too. It works excellent, I think it was a great idea having it drive from the front..

The tracks are all rubber bushed with a hexagon shaped pin holding the pads together. The tracks run on 5 sets of dual "road wheels" on each side. The road wheels are attached to the machine by independent torsion bar sprung "road arms" allowing for individual movement of each wheel while operating over rough ground. All in all it actually makes for a very smooth ride. Nothing at all like a dozer.

So it's much more like a tank?
