So what is the purpose of an open verses closed port? I can't imagine its really any cheaper to cast?

I can't make a saw run without raising the transfers,I don't see how widening without raising will work,I generally don't widen at all,I don't like hanging a ring.

It may work but my hard head is having a hard time with it.

I'm of the belief that an overly wide transfer won't scavenge as well.

I'm building a new jug for the pipe saw. I'll be trying a few things....
That's my next step, gonna try to build a head saw on a muffler then maybe a pipe.
I use to build pipes for midget sprint cars i hope I can remember. Lol

It has a NWP big bore jug, with a Husqvarna 395XP piston.
I've got that same cylinder and piston,it don't run bad but it's in a box somewhere and not on a saw.

I think I seen that saw in a video before,run out of gas on the last cut?
If it was it it's a great running saw.
