I've used wooden "picnic" tables for years but they are hard to move around and not portable. I searched the net for portable benches and ordered one of these Caldwell Stable Tables. I recently picked up a Ruger American stainless rifle in 308cal, topped with a Leupold VX-R 3-9x50 and Warne rings that I plan to sight in next week. I'll post comments on the table.

That's my bench. Not portable, 4x4's drove in by a post pounder. Used the brown Trex so the sun would melt the snow off. Made it extra high since my son and I are both tall. Hate being scrunched up sighting one in.

I've looked at that bench, as a portable option. Of the choices out there, it seems like pretty good bang for the buck. I look forward to hearing how you like it.

Got it setup today and it somewhat impressed me. It's got a slight amount of flex, but I expected that. I shot a stock 10/22 with a 1x 3moa reddot on it and I was able to hold 2" 10-shot groups@50 yds. First pic is a lead-sled on top. The leg under the seat is angle adjustable to allow setup on angled ground. The center post sits on a nylon bushing in the base to rotate the seat and table assembly. I'm 5'10" and didn't feel cramped at all. All the adjustments can be locked with provided locknuts. It's heavy, 50lbs of steel made in china but has good welds. This would make a good location varmint setup too.

With my 550XP for size comparison.

Just a little muzzle rise when I hit the trigger. lol
We built ours out of concrete. My brother in law and I worked construction together for 30 years. Till I tried to kill him. We still hunt together. If I get a chance this weekend I'll send you a picture. Very solid.

This is my bogger bench, that is what it was called back when I got the plans off the net around 2002.

The legs fold, I got them at Lowes but other places carry them.
The rifle rest is a wood prototype I built and was going to built one of steel if I liked it. Worked so well in wood I never did build a steel one.
