Wasn't there also a jonsereds saw that when you tripped the chain break it shut off the saw? I like these old jonsered saws. Here's the couple I own.

From what I understand Jonesred was the first to come up with this concept, but it didn't go over very well in the PNW. It was more popular overseas.

That tool was supplied with the new 621 I bought in 1981, it locks the clutch in place so you can remove the nut and change sprockets. As you can see, the clutch drum has a couple of notches that the tool fits through to engage the clutch and hooks on the bottom to keep the crankshaft from turning.

Jonsereds 50 came out in 1971 with that chainbrake that shorted out the ignition and the puck pushed on the clutch drum.
621 got it in 1973 . My first 621 I logged with had it in '74, wasn't that effective under a kickback as the ignition short just made the engine miss but didn't kill it.
The puck on the drum didn't lock up the chain, just slowed it down momentary. But better then nothing.
The first full 360° brake band on a Jonsereds was on the 510 and 910 in 1979. I liked the 910 besides the weak mounts on the rear handle. Sure beat the old 90.

I believe the Jonsereds 50 was the first mechanical chainbrake on a saw.
Husqvarna 140S got theirs in 1973, same with the Stihl 031 that same year. Quick Stop was a work of art as it declutched the clutch while locking the 360 brake band.
The Swede O Matic introduced in '75-'76 on the Husqvarna 162 was the best chainbrake even in todays standards as its adjustable chainbrake activated at any position .

Mark, Would you have an outline drawing of the tool with dimensions available? How long is the tooth that engages the clutch and drum?

Reference the opening picture, could that be a chimney similar to the one recently referenced by @Spike60 in the Jonsereds brand thread (albeit for a 2051)?

It is possible that one of the Jonsered guys already has something prepared but I will try to remember to make a tracing of the tool.
