Hit or miss, I have a new pair I’d sell if I don’t have the top end to match. Found them on eBay

Do you have the part number? Every search query I can come up with brings the 1.5mm rings. I'll keep searching

An alternative solution .You can shave a set of rings down using a surface grinder with a magnetic table .I had that done over 50 years ago rebuilding a 1950 Indian MC .Fact as I type I've got 6 tool steel rings partly completed for a Mac 125 only needing shaved down for completion .--there's a trick to everything ----

You answered two questions I hadn't asked yet.
How to make them and what kind of steel? I'd like to see the process!

FWIW you can "google it" .British MC sites are probably the best .You won't find a thing on chainsaw sites because some are of the opinion it's all top secret . Nothing could be farther from the truth .On the steel I think I used A2 or O2 .I looked for the blanks but forgot where they are .
I might point out a 2 cycle ring is not exactly like a four cycle ring because they don't have as much expansion on the side walls of the cylinder nor is there an oil ring .
All that said instead of making from "scratch " the easiest way is just finding the correct OD /ID and shaving them down .For example if I'm correct a Husky 2100 and a Partner P-100 are the same bore and stroke .P-100 rings in after market are easy to find .Thin ring 2100 Husky are not easy to find so it could be an option .Although you might be able to find rings through Wiseco but my word they'd cost a kings ransome .
However those rings for $10 a pop is a good price because you will easily pay that much for quality after market .

What is the advantage of the thin ring? Why not just put a piston in it that take the normal ring?

honestly i think its more to do with the full skirt windowed piston than it is the rings. just like a lot of other stuff, it becomes cool when it becomes rare.
