Used the ATN night vision tonight, the rats aren’t liking this purchase. I need to do some distance sighting to confirm trajectories out to 150 yds but at 30 yards it appears to be dead nuggets.

I was going to put it on a 22 but after much deliberation, some research & testing the 17HMR seemed to be the way to go. 22 LR seem to pass thru most things that rats, coons, rabbits, skunks & such, the 17HMR with ballistic tip hits & explodes generally leaving no exit

17HMR has better range & accuracy at least in my testing.

The ir light that came with the ATN is good out to about 125yds with fresh batteries.

SniperHog lights makes 4 ir lights that have spectacular reviews, with the 66 & Coyote Cannon being claimed & confirmed out to 500-800yd effective range.

If I get into yote hunting I will upgrade the ir & then move the scope over to something with more of an AT&T philosophy.

I want to get acclimated to the scope & functions before mounting in a larger caliber as well.

Thats my line of thunking anyway.

Very scientific.....lol.
I ask because the little 8" hedge log I cut a few weeks back didn't cut at all nicely with the 4° .045" blades.
I will find out..

FWIW, I opened up the log with a dull band that was at least still cutting straight..
It started diving about 3 cuts after..

I put a new band on and it cut way better.

Thanks.

Yep, dull blades like to dive in super hard woods.

You run lots of water lube while cutting it?
