We have had temps in the low 50’s here most of the week & allegedly thru Sunday with rain forecast. Let it rain before it gets cold enough to freeze.

We got a bit of rain overnight & its foggy now. Let it rain, it’s terribly dry here & the ground is unbelievable hard.

Hey @hoskvarna I hope you have a Good Christmas and a much better new year.
I'll second that thought and send some good will M's way.
Would really like to see him at his place in the spring, if he's open to that visitor routine for a day.

Good morning folks.
If I can get through the next several days of possible insanity moments, all will be worth the preparations.

Conditions here are very similar, but about 12degrees cooler. Haven't had more than a drizzle in about 5 weeks, so very dry as well.
The couple of times we got a inch or two of snow it was gone within a day or two.

@Sawdust Man that post oak is supposed to be good for smoking.

I am a stick burner but have no firsthand experience with post oak.
Post oak is primo farwood.

We have lots of hickory so that's mostly what we use for smoke, but I need to experiment with different things.

I saw a lot

For burnin and smoking, post oak is 90% same as white oak..

So yes, desirable...
The good thing about post oak is, it's horrible to mill and makes junk lumber.....so I never have to decide between sawlog and firewood....it's all firewood.
Also, whenever the trees aren't corkscrewed it splits better than anything else that grows here. 👍
