You’re right. This one has a metal case. I was surprised that it has a fixed H carburetor from back in it’s day.Funny story. Early on in the sickness i had a bunch of these. Dad wanted to join me and stuntcockwelder on chainsaw shop Fridays. I set him up with a pile of these XLs (mine wer plastic case buts urs looks mag? Maybe older?) Took him 3 saws (with guidence) and a bunch of cuss words and he had 1 saw running like a top by the nites end. I took the lil guy out the next weekend with a sharp chain and actually was surprised. It did just fine, oiled the 12” bar how a bar is supposed to be oiled.
These saws will kill wood just like the others
Small enough to throw in a back pack too. And for being a rigid saw the vibes seemed minimal at best with a LPX.
GLWS Duane!
I was thinking it would be handy near the chipper. Seems to start easy. Not much of a saw really, but knocking a stubborn limb off something that won’t fit in da chippah should be doable...We cut up tops with those in the eighties. They get so hot you'll burn your hands touching one so get two or three. They will still be running when we're all dead and gone. Set your points, do a new cap, a new sparky plug and go over the fuel system. Not much else to tell. Dependable tool.
And light trimming.I was thinking it would be handy near the chipper. Seems to start easy. Not much of a saw really, but knocking a stubborn limb off something that won’t fit in da chippah should be doable...
