Got an 029 highway clutch for replacement and the nut collar is 1/16" taller than OEM! Can't get the drum and sprocket on far enough to get e-clip in place...

I've messaged the website that sold me these faulty goods. I'm a little disappointed, never run into problems with highway stuff being out of spec.

If you have no luck returning it I'd swap the shoes

I accidentally posted this on the wrong forum, mods maybe move it?

If you have a milling machine (or have a friend who has one and will do it for free), you could set it up and mill the face of the nut down.

I will check in the morning. Can you measure the height that it should be?

I'll have to do it tomorrow at the end of the day. I'll pm you.

This is not fault of HLS, I'm not upset at all, HLS has been great!

It ended up being 1/16" taller. I tried mounting it again, it just doesn't tighten down far enough.

So I think I'll put the shoes and springs on the old hub, who knows a good way to take apart a clutch?

30 seconds with a flap disc on an angle grinder would sort that.
FLAPDISC FTW !!!!! I remember the first time I saw one and the excitement that followed. And this thread right here is what makes this site so beautiful I wish all of them were this good.

Put one shoe in a vice and use a hooked pick to take the springs off.
