How is it no ones made a comment about file sizes as the tooth gets shorter? I have LOTS of files but mostly grind now. Sharp file puts the best edge on a tooth.

Dolmar 099, aka Oregon 72/73 states 5.5mm from new till half worn, then 4.8mm from half worn till worn out.

Alternatively 5.2mm throughout the entire tooth length.

Around my area everyone just seem to use 5.2mm for the entire life of a 3/8" loop.
I'm fairly happy with the two diameter option, 5.5mm, then 4.8mm.

Dolmar/Oregon have a chart regarding recommended file diameters for their chains on the back of their chain boxes!

I'm so damn brain dead that I need to make up little sayings for stuff... Smaller tooth, smaller file. Gotta have a good cuttin chain!!

Correct file size is no garuantee for correctly filed chain. 7/32 or 13/64 don't matter to much, using 7/32 on Stihl chain is fine too. I prefer a larger diameter file to slightly 'detune' my chain for Ozzy hardwoods with less hook/inner top plate angle. What matters is how the chain performs when filed, having the correct tools just helps you get there.

092 is 3/8" LowProfile, 099 is 3/8" (Oregon 72/73)

Trying to find a picture of a Oregon loop box on my PC, no luck so far.
