Where can I get an adapter to use on the newer saws with the smaller plug hole?
I've got a 550xp and an ms211 that I would like to check for various reasons.
Also how much margin of error does an adapter add?
Thanks all.

You can always justify another saw.

Are you sure there's not something that can be unscrewed with your fittings to make it work? That's how my Actron was.

No mind is just a basic model. It does what I need it to do mostly. I'm sure some of the higher end ones are more accurate but I'm shooting for ballpark anyway.

The op asks a good question as unless you spend a few hundred bucks on something like the snapon gauge kit they only give you one adapter for saws and the standard auto fitting on the gauge hose. I cannot test my blowers, 550xp and a few others with the smaller spark plug. One would think such an adapter would be only a few bucks through eBay.

My actron came with a handful of fittings. I know it has the small plug fitting because I have used it on my 562.

I added it to my cart, but it concerns me that the threads don't go all the way to the oring.

Lisle is a great brand. All of there tools that I own have been really thought out in there design. I wouldn't be concerned about the threads in fact I will probably buy one too so I have it if I need it.

I've found them to generally be all over the place in readings. Get an OTC, worth the money.

Use the readings you get as a reference point only, not a true and absolute value.

The only issue with the OTC is that the standard threaded end is a bit longer than a spark plug, so you will get falsely higher readings than are true. The margins of error is higher in smaller saws with smaller chambers because it will take up more volume proportionately.

I had a debate about the longer or shorter threads changing the compression with the local small engine repair shop. I said it did change the numbers because it changed the volume. They both told me no but when I asked why not and explain they couldn't?

It doesnt. It just changes the amount of pulls to fill the longer hose

We are talking about the threads going farther into the chamber than a plug, right? If so it would have to raise the compression in my small mind.

If you make the combustion chamber smaller by taking up space and try to compress the same volume into it you did before reducing the chambers size ,then logic dictates the compression will rise IMO.

If tightening up the Squish increases comp then i bet its the same filling some of the void with more plug ...maybe a different ratio of increase but a increase never the less I believe.
Be interested if you do test it....if you have a gauge accurate enough to measure it.
