Dumb question # 1057

I cleaned the clutch needle bearings on the 345 I am rebuilding, after cleaning and oiling, the little needles rolled around

Just figured out how to get to the clutch needle bearings on my trusty Stihl 025
Cleaned them and oiled them but the little needles are not moving at all

Which is right? i am guessing the loose ones but I have no idea.

I for sure have to get a new needle bearing for one of them!

Needles should roll. Not be flat spotted or pitted. There are different cage designs tho .

When you put the drum on, does it spin freely? Without much wobble?

I use that little toothpaste tube of white, lithium grease from STIHL- any similar grease would work - this is just convenient. Put a little on with a toothpick and work it in and around the bearings.

Put it on the shaft and see if it turns smoothly. If not, replace it. The plastic cage can get damaged.
