My saw, a 1997 272xp. Has a thin stainless steel “plate or gasket “ that fits between the motor housing and the bar/bow. It fits over the bar studs and has a cutout for the bar lube channel. What purpose does this serve other than to allow bar lube to seep by? Seems like I would get a better seal and therefore more lube to the bar/bow without it.
Thanks!
