PTO side bearing/seal won't take the abuse of milling. There's better saws out there to use for that. 385 is great for everything else but milling is it's weakness.
Yes that is true, honestly you just may be better off to get a band mill and save wear on any saw. My friend had a small Norwood and it does a great job and was only 2500.00 ish. Just my opinion. I will not mill with my 2186 again.

Well that ends that.

Small band mill would be nice. But I do still have the 660 for now.

Does the PTO side seal affect the 365, 372, and 390 also?

288,394,395 would be better suited than any of those. 390 is the same bottom end as the 385.

It's the same setup as a 660. Seal is just on the races. Any inboard clutch saw will get hit and can kill that seal or bearing milling. 394/5 are a better setup in that regard.

OK, one more question and I really should know the answer but I need some validation.

How would one of these hold up to light milling. I run a 32" bar on the mill and so far have milled around 3-4 16-24" logs per year. I only ask because on the other forum someone said they would not use a 385 for milling and suggested going to a 395. I don't remember if it was for light or full time milling.
I've milled with them and 460s a lot. One 460 had right around 1k bd feet on it. Killed one set of mounts rather quickly.

I recently replaced the rewind with a nicer one that has no decal, I’d really like this saw gone. Taking reasonable offers
