I just swapped my stock Stihl 28 for a lightweight Tsumura 28 and it seems shorter somehow. The chain is much looser at the same tension screw setting. In order to get decent tension I'm way towards the end of the slot already. Almost new Stihl chain. Is this common?

I know it is on Sugi, not sure about Tsumura.

With 105 dL on a 32” I can’t run a 7 pin anymore with a well used chain.

Does it adjust on up?

Yes, I can get it to adjust. Just thought it was weird that it was that loose. It looks as though I'll run out of adjustment before the chain is done stretching/wore out. Just wondering if that was normal and it looks like it must be. Thanks everyone.

Stihl chain normally doesn’t keep stretching.

If you’ve run the chain a bit & it’s now tight on the bar you should be golden.

I’m not at home to share a picture of mine.

Stihl is 91.

Husky/Echo/Jonsred/ McCulloch is 92/93 depending on the bar manufacturer.
that's what's funny the loop of 92dl that I have for McCulloch D176 bar fits great. Same loop on the D009 and it looks to long.

I have a craftsmen that runs a 20” 70dl. And everything else runs a 72dl 20”. That sucks fishing the right one out if the dish.
Yeah just ended up using D009 on my Craftsman.

Gotta have something to do with the hole drilled for the chain adjuster. Must be slightly different.

The bar length appears to be different between the McCulloch/ Echo & the husky on the 20”- 70dl & 24” 81dl vs. 20”-72dl & 24”-84dl.

That’s only 1.5 links length difference @ 1.5/ per top & bottom.

Poulan McCulloch Echo 20” 3/8” is 70dl.

Stihl & Husky dl are the same on 20” & 24” but they start to differ past 24”.

28”-
Stihl- 91
Husky, Echo, McCulloch- 92/93

32”-
Stihl- 105
Others are sometimes 106

36”-
Stihl- 114
Husky- 115/116/118 depending on bar manufacturer.

Put those in a separate coffee can & label the top.

These work great for that.

I think you will find the STIHL bar will be the wide tip with 13 tooth sprocket and the TSUMURA will only be 11 .
But I could be wrong .......

Old Stihl were fat tips but since about 2015 Stihl has transitioned to the slender 11 tooth tips.

It’s difficult to even find the larger replacement tips anymore.

I <3 Big Tip Stihls: they are the best for Bore Cutting.
