Last bearing showed up so installed the crankshaft and checked port timing. Squish w/o gasket .022. 99ex 120 trans 76intake. Should anything be cleaned up on ports while apart. For a firewood saw, numbers seem ok?
I’ve never worked over a 390 but for the displacement those numbers seem pretty good for not touching anything.

Have you bought your parts yet @Pincher ? I just saw mention in another thread of a new 390 short block with an updated crank with the cost being in the area of a new p/c. I don't know about you but I'm not about rattle canning some red or black over that orange.

Rustoleum Regal Red covers the orange quite nicely. ;)

Those are for a 340/345/350 husky and the red jonsered equivalent and go over the limiters. The 385 and two 390xp I’ve had here didn’t have them on the limiters.

How much are the 390 short blocks?

$192.18 MSRP

With used crank, new bearings, seal and gaskets I came in lower than 192. If I add in the case splitter and special tools for assembly its more than the short block. Still would have needed paint.
