I ordered these from HLsupply. I’m kinda confused all of my other caber rings appear to be oil coated and have caber laser etched on the top of the rings but these are black and no etching... did I get duped?

Aren’t there standard and f cast cabers?

I sent an email and pictures they’re checking into it I guess there are some older Caber rings that were black with no etching they’re going to confirm that they are Ledgit even the highway rains that came with the Pistons I got were cleaner looking in then these

AE2DBD5C-6F06-4E6E-A6E7-D325DD14C749.jpeg I’ve had the same thing happen, purchased multiple sets of the same rings, some came stamped caber, some black with no markings. All were in caber packaging with same part numbers.
I never did figure anything out.
F-cast caber ring in attached photo for reference.

Ive bever seen a black caber ring... I do shy away from f-cast rings as i have had issues with them never really seating in a used bore. I have found a way to use them since with a 120grit flap wheel finish in the bore first. I run the flap wheel slow speed in the bore creating a cross hatch finish similar to the finish a hone leaves behind. I dont run scotchbrite in it after like i usually would. They seem to still take up to 10 tanks to seat. With hyway and reg caber rings ive felt and seen them seat with as little as a half tank of mix.

Well I’m not optimistic that these are the same quality as the normal Caber rings, I’m at a crossroads in trying them or just using the highway rings that came in the side send certain way they’re better than the ring that come in a little red barn piston set

The non f cast cabers are pretty dark like that and aren't marked.
Those look like they could easily be cabers, need a closeup pic of the ring edges to be reasonably sure.

This is the easiest way to tell they're caber, the machine marks and more importantly, the beveled edges.

caber macro.JPG

Not the best pic for this, the bevels are normally very obvious, the machine marks aren't always this obvious and you need decent magnification to see them.
I don't know of any other brand that looks just like 'em...

<EDIT>
This pic is the standard non f cast caber.

caber std closeup.JPG

The machine marks aren't so apparent on this type but it shows the characteristic bevel with the slight ridge/burr on top. Bevel is on the both the outside top and bottom.

If the OP's, are fake or misrepresented as caber, it's the first time I've heard of it...
I've had a piston that was supposed to have cabers come with other than but they certainly weren't in a caber box.

I remember looking close up and I don’t remember seeing those marks. I’ll check again tomorrow with a magnifier and see if they are there. I bought 3 sets. So if they are not I guess I was duped three times at one shot. If they say “whoops we will send you some new ones it seems packaging is messed up” I would only question how many people paid double the cheap price for caber rings and got the cheap rings...
