I believe the venturi is bigger on the hd12. I bought a used 372 with an hd6 and I replaced it with a brand new hd12 and it ran better/stronger. But also I’m comparing old, used to brand new.
But I would guess the bigger Venturi would help make more power.
I just bought the super jolly last month. Still getting used to it. But it’s a nice grinder. I bought it from maverick mower, recommended on here. The 2 grinding wheels were broken on arrival so I called them up and a week later I got 5 of each in the mail. Now that’s some good customer...
Not 100% sure but I think a member here was talking about putting a 357 top end on a 359 case. Which would essentially be the same thing. They said it made a broader power band.
Yep craftsman lawn movers been running on old gas for years. Old boat gas (mix), old generator gas, chainsaw mix that’s been around to long. I almost think the extra lube has kept it going this long. Same 12hp Briggs has been bolted into its third lawn tractor.
That sounds like the site I went to. Prices are a little to good to be true. Shipping was 20$ regardless how much u bought. Then they send some weird payment email separately. Definitely a scam.
I wonder if all things being equal , does anybody know what the best non ported cylinder is. (Best factory numbers, nice ports.)
KS
Non decomp mahle

Aslo heard of but never seen, mystery gilardoni
Ya definitely just cover screws and I’m not sure how long they came like that but it’s a tell tale sign it’s an early on. As in ks cylinder and hda-87 carb. Also I always look for no decomp, plastic clutch cover and gas tank compartment
Yep. I made that mistake once when I was 16 years old I put the piston in backwards on my 250r three wheeler. Won’t do that again. It ran for about 10 minutes. Luckily it was an older steel cylinder and could be bored bigger.
