So what did you do today?

Finished putting a transmission in a Mack truck. I'm tired of looking up & seeing the bottom of that truck.

    Live auction used chainsaw value.

To get a 353, take a 346 chassis and change the p&c to a slightly detuned set. Think 359 and 357xp.

Does this stuff mix in the nozzle, causing it to harden making the tube a a one time use?

    The First Saw You Bought

The first one I paid for was a Poulan pro 260. Just got an old farm house & needed to keep up with a large raggy yard. When we started heating with wood, a new 346xp came in soon followed by a used Echo 6700. With the 2 nicer saws at home, the 260 was sold without shedding a tear.

    All Things 288XP

What was the black piece that has broken off under the top cover? It's on the wall to the carb box, on the flywheel side.

    Screws for 350 transfer cover

Thank you. I was guessing 4mm but couldn't nail down the thread. I tried some off a 455 but they were different.

    Screws for 350 transfer cover

Someone has given me a box containing a puzzle that once was a Husq 350. They went as far as to remove the transfer covers and proceed to lose the screws. I've searched all my junk boxes and the forums for the correct screw size to no avail. What am I looking for?

    All Things 288XP

Thanks. The crappy IPL I was using gave the "updated" part # for the pigtail without mentioning the separate grommet.

    All Things 288XP

I'm putting together a 288 delivered in a box. I've never dealt with one and relying on sketchy exploded parts lists for research. Not having the pigtail fuel line in hand, I'm having a hard time believing it will big enough to seal the hole in the tank (left pic) and small enough to fit through...

Dumb things your friends do with saws

I once told a customer his bar and chain were blue and worn out because he wasn't filling the bar oil tank. He said he checked it at the beginning of the season.

Dumb things your friends do with saws

A woman bought a new trimmer at the dealership I was working at. Next day brought it back with a burnt up p&c. Boss tested fuel out of tank on clean cardboard and indicated oil. Gave her a new one, next day, same thing. Upon questioning, she said she was using Wesson oil. She wasn't trying to go...

    HUSQVARNA HUSQVARNA THREAD

I was given a basket-case 288xpg with a metal flag brake that I'm rebuilding. The part I can't find is the brake band for that metal flag. Anyone making them? I'd rather not replace it with plastic. That and a new sticker for the starter side. Can't find that, either.

    Too Much Compression?

This gauge is reliable but, just in case, I just tested a known saw and everything is normal. First step was carb tuning. At no load full throttle, it 4 strokes and at idle it doesn't load up and various needle fiddling wasn't helping. Being an aftermarket cyl kit I was kinda leaning towards...

    Too Much Compression?

I was given a burnt up 028AV. When installing the new cylinder, the squish w/o the base gasket was .016. Yeah, tight but the big number with it didn't sound exciting. The compression is now 215. Plenty exciting enough but I'd like the crank to stick around so the gasket will go back in. My...

026 old style air rear handle to new

I have an early style 026 with a leaking fuel tank. All the aftermarket ones are new style. Will the old air filter cover work with the new handle if I continue to use the old style filter?

    Un seizing piston

Don't forget soaking in any of your favorite carb cleaners. Most are formulated to go after carbon. Of course, some better than others.

Anyone factory tech full time ?

And if I curse in a real polite way, the dogs won't understand and report back to the wife.

Anyone factory tech full time ?

Yeah, now I get to damage my own walls when I throw tools!

Anyone factory tech full time ?

I was the tech in a Jred and RedMax dealership. The shop opened 90 years ago for auto and expanded to Lawn & Garden 60 years ago. With a reputation like that, we got in EVERYTHING, so those two brands made up a very small portion of what I worked on. Two of us on small engine. Him on riders, I...
