This is a first for me, I put my crankcase together and bolted down the cylinder and it's a head slapper. Then I tried another cylinder that hasn't been cut and it's also a head slapper, even with a gasket. What do y'all think?

Can you mix and match 440/044 crankcase halves or will there be alignment problems? The 440 I have is a little messed up on the clutch side and I've found a case half on ebay for a good price but I don't want to get it if others have had problems doing it. The ad says it will fit a 044 or a 440.

The 440 I'm working on is a little ate up above the clutch, do y"all think that I should replace the case or do you think that a piece of sheet metal JB weded over that spot would work, that's the only spot that looks bad?

Does anyone have the stock ms170 timing numbers, I've timed the one I have a couple of times and I keep coming up with around 60 for the intake. Here's the numbers I got, EX 104 TR 130 IN 60

Hipa sent me a couple of loops of chain to try out for free, it's a little dull out of the box and I think it needs sharpened and the rakers taken down a bit before you use it.

I think I read awhile back that the 572 full wrap will fit the 372, can anyone confirm that?

Not really a build thread, just going to post the progress on my build. So far I've painted the cases and dyed the ugly plastics black. Put the crank in, repainted the front of the case because the oven heat gave the gray a yellow tent. Did the muffler mod and fitted the cylinder to the case.
