    How do you check squish?

I will. You were definitely right on getting fooled. Rechecked last night with .31 wire and had close to .003 difference from the larger solder. Ran that 3 times to confirm. That being said, also only had .003 difference checking single point over flywheel or pto. Still don’t love the .002...

    How do you check squish?

I had a feeling as after several time rolling over I could still feel solder. I found some 1/32 or .0312 in my work toolbox, I’ll recheck that this evening. Appreciate the info guys

    How do you check squish?

Admittedly I did not roll over several time during first checks. Could have contributed to discrepancies. I wish I rechecked before I recut. I bought home my good mic to check. Tonight I cut .007 from band, and did a 4 point check with .050 solder, all I currently have on hand. .050 to big...

    How do you check squish?

Aw yes, rings. Good point! Four point check before final, I like it. Definitely be adding this to my process. When you’re just checking a single location for reference Ketchup, what do you like to see? Have you done enough to say 25thou in one spot usually equates to .020 in four point...

    How do you check squish?

064 on the bench, cut the chamber and then base to get my desired squish. Landed on .023 PTO .0235 flywheel, l checked 1 side at a time. I seen a post recently where squish was checked using 2 small pieces greased to the piston. I liked the idea, eliminate “rock” in the piston and bearing...

    HELP! Tachometer for chainsaw tuning

I use the Electronic specialties 328 tach. Want to say it’s around $50 and the batteries can be replaced. It works greats, but it is bulky compared to the once you mentioned. It also does multiple cylinder and 4 stroke. So if you have snowmobile, mowers or auto it works!

Carbs I rebuilt leak gas, help?

I just had a Walbro HD-10 doing that after I put a kit in, but only when tank built pressure from heat. Very small leak. Put 10psi on carb and place carb in a container of fuel and look where the bubbles are coming from. If leaking fuel into cylinder, your needle is leaking. Also make sure...

    Automotive Power Tools Recommendations

Power tool wise, Milwaukee is hard to beat IMO. If you’re willing to spend a little money on a kit for socket and wrenches, bluepoint (snap-on) makes some great starter sets at reasonable prices. They will come with wrenches, bits, sockets and ratchets in a blow molded case. Otherwise a good...

    What's on your bench?

Yea, I did it myself. Seems like the condition of the plastics before dye will match the end result. Newer plastics will come out shining, old faded and oxidized plastics will stay that, just black. I thought about sanding and polishing before dye but these were pretty bad. Had several cracks...
