    Complain about modern pickup trucks

Infotainment and any touchscreen. Especially the monstrosities in modern vehicles. Auto start stop Dials and buttons in place of real mechanical link shifters All software updates. Just the very idea that a vehicle of mine needs software updates is quite repulsive. Any lane assist or pseudo self...

    HELP! Tractor size

This is the advice I was given long ago when purchasing a tractor. Figure out exactly what size you will need. Be very meticulous and study all the spec from all the different manufacturers. Figure out how heavy of loads you would be lifting or how many acres you would be cutting, etc. Then...

    543 wtf

A lot of people start a business because they have this fantasy that they can somehow become the masters of their own fate and be able to individualize their product and put their own creativity into it. Instead the reality is those jobs are few and far between and to pay the bills you have to...

Stihl NGK spark plugs vs. any ol NGK spark plug?

This little blurb of an older UK based blog post got me wondering if there is any truth here. https://blog.stihl.co.uk/using-right-spark-plug-stihl-tools/ I don’t know why a company would put the same identifier numbers on two different items that each give different outcomes. Add to the...

SOLD Jonsered 2165 with MMWS 2172 Cylinder. $450

I just bought a 372 XT and I have to say it is a nice runner. Low top too. The Cats will hold their own. Just gotta watch out for that PTO crank bearing. Replace it with a good quality one and you are set.

    A/T recommendations

I put 60k miles on a set of BFG AT KO2s. I wanted them again but they were ungodly expensive and one thing led to another and I ended up with Firestone Transforces which are not an AT but they lasted around 80k miles. 2000 F250 Super Booty.

    Heavy Hitters

I have a 300 Win Mag and a 270 but my 450 BM Ruger American and 454 Casull Browning 1885 kills them the deadest.

    Ms440 perfect bar size

A 28” lightweight is what I would run on a ported 440. 25” on an unported. Of course it depends on what you are using it for. I like a long bar for firewood cutting, limbing, and bucking but prefer a shorter bar for storm cleanup. Of course I prefer a smaller 45-50cc saw for storm cleanup too.

    I need a new grinder

I have used every grinder under the Oregon branding and they all flex/slop the way you describe. The lower end Oregon, I cannot really recommend. It would be OK for light use. I personally don’t think the flex affects anything but I understand the concern and agree a grinder would be better...

    Recommend a spark tester?

Been using spark testers for a million years or so and I have never had one malfunction or fail to show spark when there was spark or vise versa. My favorite has been HF. They tend to just fit better all around. Ive used two different ones from NAPA, a Lisle, the Stihl, and that OReillys one...

    What's on your bench?

I’m in the process of building new bench. Got a great deal on two 46 inch Huskys that are unusual in that they are 24” deep instead of just 18”. Figured they would be the perfect candidates for this workbench build I have been kicking around for a bit. Should be done with it tomorrow.

    My Hutzl Experiance

I really don't think the majority of Stihl OEM parts are necessarily overpriced. Compared to other small equipment and the marginal spare part price increase over the marginal cost of a complete saw is no different. Nonetheless, what OEM costs compared to what you get can be shocking. The...

    What's your other hobby?

Used Hurrican Matthew salvaged Ipe for the cross slats. That stuff is so hard, stiff, and strong I did not even need a center support. Got the raised panel headboard done too. What am I saying? I got the whole thing done.

    Inside the 572xp

It would be really cool if they offered kits to convert most of the other Husky saws to Torx screws. Kind of how the flippy caps they made can be retroactively used on most of their saws.

    Inside the 572xp

I asked about that a bit back and was met with crickets. Is the first saw they have used these on? I don’t generally use Husky saws for only a few reasons. Outboard clutches, (I’m aware of the ones that have inboards) the brake system because of the outboard clutch, and hex head screws. Torx...
