    Home weather station

Do any of you guys with home weather stations have any recommendations? I’m looking for something that measures temp, rain fall, humidity and wind speed. I don’t mind spending a bit for a good unit and don’t want something that’s not going to be reliable. Any input, good or bad is appreciated.

    Bad day

We got hit with some pretty serious storms, with 70mph-80mph straight line winds over the weekend. An older couple up the road from me had what was a bad day, but could have been a lot worse. A pretty good size tree top snapped off and took the front porch off of their house and punched a few...

    My first new truck………....ever!

After driving used trucks for my entire life, I finally got a new one. I bought this yesterday and am picking it up on Monday. The supply of new diesel trucks has caught up with demand and dealers around me are offering some pretty hefty discounts on high end option packages. I guess they...

    12v compressor/inflator

I had a nice portable 12v tire inflator that I kept in my vehicle. My wife took it for her second vehicle. The one she took is no longer available and I need to find a replacement. I see a lot online but don't want to end up with a POS. I'm generally skeptical of online descriptions/reviews...

Ram position when storing a splitter?

I have a neighbor who always leaves the ram extended when he shuts off his splitter. It sits under a tree, uncovered and it doesn't matter if it's horizontal or vertical, the ram is always left extended, even when stored long term. I asked him why he does it that way and he said that's what he...

    Covid shot

Have any of you guys gotten your Covid shots yet? I got my first one (Pfizer) today. I was told that I might have some discomfort at the injection site, tonight and tomorrow. I've had plenty of injections in my life but never one like this. It feels like someone hit me in the shoulder with a...

    Finally....

I retired today. After 44+ years of working in a very dynamic corporate environment, I closed my office door for the final time. It was hard to walk out and know I wouldn't be going back.

    Over ruled.......again

My wife has been wanting a crew cab side by side for taking the grandkids to the creek, on the far side of our property. We have an 835i JD Gator, which she says is a Geezer mobile, refuses to drive and hates to ride in, because it doesn't have a cab, windshield or stereo and is always full of...

    Your first gun purchase

When I was a kid, one of the places we lived, was in a large subdivision in St. Louis. One day, while riding my bike to a friends house, I stopped at a garage sale. Among the baby clothes, toys and other junk for sale, was an old Cresent Arms 12ga hammerless SxS shotgun with 30" fluid steel...

    Old man down the road.....done

There's an older couple, both in their mid 80's, that live down the road from me. In the winter, their only heat source is wood, from an OWB. Every year, in March, the old man gets a load of logs delivered. He generally has the wood cut, split and stacked by the first of May. His son helped him...

    Nice surprise

Yesterday morning as my wife and her sister were leaving to go fabric shopping, my wife asked if I wanted her to pick up anything for me. "Yep, there's a sweet little NIB full stock CZ 455 in .17HMR at the gun store." She laughed, shook her head and left.

    Shortages are back

If you are one of the fortunate ones who stocked up on ammo and reloading components over the last three years, pat yourself on the back, well done. The shortages are back. In a 48hr period last week, most of the low cost .22 ammo disappeared. Same with some reloading components, especially...

    They walk among us

Earlier today I picked up a friend of mine from WalMart, after he dropped his truck off for new tires. While there I decided to pick up some washer fluid. I have four vehicles, so I grabbed four gallons. My buddy jokingly said that he'd heard that the factory that makes washer fluid is closed...

    Organizing a tool box

How do you guys have your tool boxes organized? I just bought a big Craftsman cabinet style box and am looking for the best way to set it up. Socket organization seems to be a particular problem but not the only one. Pics if you got em. Thanks-

    Micrometer & Calipers

I'm looking for set of dial calipers and a micrometer. I don't like stuff that runs on batteries and don't want vernier. I have vernier now. I'm leaning toward the two below. Can any of you guys, who use measuring tools regularly, help me out. Are there others I should be looking at, or a...

    CZ 457 in .22lr

Last summer I picked up this CZ 457 in .22 LR. I ordered a Vortex Diamond Back 4x16x44 AO scope, scope mount and rings at the same time. I hadn't had time to shoot it, except to make sure it worked, until last week. It only has a couple hundred rounds through it but so far I'm pleased. After...

    What would you do

Here's the situation- You're in a small town, situated next to a major highway, 80 miles from a city. It's 25 degrees, windy and snowing. You pull into a gas station and see a young white girl, late teens or early 20's, wearing a short sleeveless dress, with no coat, pumping gas into a pos car...

    She did it again

12 years ago my wife went to town for dog food and bought a new 4wd truck on the way home. Today, she stopped on the way home from work to drop off some stuff for one of our sons, who's a Toyota mechanic, and ended up buying a 4-runner. She's fun to watch.
