If I had not had on chain saw gloves a few days ago, I would have had a nasty cut to my left hand. In the BLINK of an eye, it happened and I'm not even sure how it did. Cut my gloves in two places, so, would likely have been two wounds.

My neighbor recently showed me a pic of her co-worker's relative. Apparently, he caught a kickback to the face. I wish I had not looked at it. She showed me before and after surgery. (She works in an eye surgery clinic.) It was awful, I tell ya. The surgeon did an incredible job but that guy will be terribly scarred for the rest of his life.

I try to be careful but it's hard to be perfect with a saw. I even bought a new set of chainsaw gloves that with an even higher rating. Also looking into chainsaw boots. Those suckers are expensive! My steel toe military boots are probably pretty good but they are not chainsaw boots.

I remember that. Weren’t you working around someone’s back deck clearing brush or some *s-word?

No, I was just in a big stupid ass hurry to get firewood cut for a fire before dark one night and paid the price..jonsered 2159 got me.

I took a chunk of my knee cap. I took no pain pills or even an antibiotic..pretty stupid in retrospect.

I've been scratched a few times since from top handles but nothing to really talk about. A stitch or butterfly here and there.

I need to get some chaps and a helmet. My wranglers aint gonna stop that. Luckily I haven't had any accidents with a saw other than stabbed with a spike or a link getting me while filing. Gloves and safety glasses are all I've been using. I did manage to dislocate a knee while running a splitter last year

My boss got this one this summer from tripping over a saw with a freshly sharpened chain

OW, those hurt every time the knee bends, got bit by a dog at the back of my knee once, every morning, first move would break the scab open.

Thanks deye223...checked out their website and they look super!
I had a credit with Amazon and ordered me a pair of Forester Chaps that meet the industry specs.
Had some close calls a time or two down through the yrs!
awesome!

The trick is keep it tight with your saws so its always handy when you grab the saw.

You guys notice that you never hear I was logging all day and cut my leg open.

Its always I was cutting some brush or I only had a limb or two. only had to make a couple cuts and then....

Anyone ever try these? They are around $100. Or any other suggestion for pants not chaps?View attachment 197590
Oregon makes pretty decent pants, but they don't market them in North America so you have to order from UK etc.

I used a pair for a while until my waist inexplicably expanded after starting an office job, bit hot but very nice and pretty tough. They don't seem to make the same exact pants today, but the "Yukon+" on eBay right now look very similar. $106 shipped from the UK currently, or ~$90 for the regular "Yukon." I also have a pair of nicer Oregon "Fiordland" pants that I never even wore before outgrowing them. Anyone need a size small (around jeans waist size 30-32) pair!?

The "Fiordland" $180 on ebay, or if you need a size small let me know!:

They sure are expensive! You can get some more affordable versions from the UK (where they're required by law and are therefore much more popular).

Here's an example on eBay for about $110 shipped (doubt the quality is amazing, but I'm sure they'd stop a saw!): https://www.ebay.com/itm/OREGON-YUK...hash=item41d89773e2:m:mqJU_d2OYZ5MKmCoJc07B0A

Or there are several retailers who gladly ship to the US. They have super expensive boots like us, but also cheaper options. I think getting products approved by US/Canada standards agencies isn't worth the trouble for lots of these products.

I wish there were a store to try this stuff, I hate buying boots or pants without trying them on.
