It looks to me the newer version cylinder is better isolated from the exterior exhaust port flange, alot.
Plus with the diagonal fins the cooling air from the fanwheel housing is blowing the heat straight out front upwards past the muffler.
Head fins also follow the same airflow .
Would be near impossible to plug those fins with chips and sap.

Theses jugs seem to be cast from the same alloy as the old KS jugs. Harder to cut than Mahle.

The V2 has an additional “drip” hole cast into the jug. It’s the hole between the intake floor and the impulse groove/hole coming up from the base. The V1 doesn’t have the hole.

Both cylinder mount to my builder case eggzackery the same way. I’m not so uncertain that a V2 jug couldn’t be retrofitted to save an ounce or two lol.

I wonder if less mass helps the cooling. The heat might possibly be able to escape more easily. Or maybe not.
I’m sure that they used thermal testing to figure it out. I bet thermal images while running the saw.

Looks at where they put the fins. There’s almost no fins where the transfers and stratos are, which should be the coolest area from incoming charge. There’s a bunch by the exhaust port and then a bunch by the head.

Pretty interesting stuff. The V2 is noticably lighter in the hand than the V1. I took .030 from the bands, but I can weigh them before the base/ext cuts.

Interestingly enough, the V1 jug’s band was perfect from the factory. The V2 band was out by .004 on one side.

The V1 also has a thicker base flange.

I'm running a 16" .043 3/8 Oregon 90 chain on my little Husqvarna T536 LiXP and it pulls it fine.

For those who haven’t had the opportunity, the T536liXP is a bad lil’ m’fer. We have had 5 or 6 in service for nearly two years at Schneider’s. Aside from replacing busted plastics, they have been maintainence free. The guys love’em
