Time will tell Dan :)

For sure Todd. I'm liking the look of this mesh filter. It's double layered and the microns seem right to stop enough fines.

If the air injection keeps the filter box from getting packed with sawdust, it should be a good combo on the 462, IMO. :)

The only concerns I have on the 462 at the moment is the bottom end staying together. Are the mains and crank going to hold up maybe @tree monkey can chime in with his thoughts on the bottom end

I do not believe it will be a concern. With the lighter, shorter stroke crank, there will be less stress on those parts, and I believe they are using the same bearings the 460/461 uses, which have held up just fine over time.

Just because someone else went bigger does not mean that the status quo is not more than enough.

The MS 462 dosen`t use the same bearings as the MS 460, 461, there is a own set of bearings used just for the MS 462.

I thought someone posted something about them on one of the comparison web sites, and I thought they were similar to the current 461s (but maybe a little different).

Stihl saws are known for being pretty durable, and I don't think that will change. Even my 10 mm 044 is still going strong. The crushed tank holder was replaced, and new seals + rubber (just as a precaution), but the rings, P+C and bearings are all original. I'm sure you could kill it if you wanted to, but if you keep the chain sharp, the air filter clean and run good mix, it will last almost indefinitely. I was just using it for some light duty milling of some Cedar the other week.

Was it fully broke in? Or still needed few more tanks?
