I have an MS462 on its way.... will have it next week.
Of course I care not for warranty.
Scott, this is a great thread.
I have 2 questions.
1. did you do any mods to the black plastic intake thingy that goes between the carb and the filter?
2. have you noticed any "fines leakage" past the filter like on the MS661?

Love your work mate.
Any base/squish work planned?

Concur. Did you measure how much till freeport on ex? Pics are probably deceiving with the difference of int and ex side of piston but ex looks really short.

It's got too much intake duration to me already....and a nice flat squish band. I'm not really expecting any of us to be taking much off the base on this one....but, time will tell.

If they are 150 like most Stihl saws ( my elevation anyway ) then what do you have in mind for a compression increase if you don’t feel the jug needs to be lowered?

I haven't cut the base yet, so I haven't checked

Was wondering if one of you guys could explain why they changed to this new style plug on some of the newer saws?

I've been in this one three times so far....and, like Scott says, I'll be cutting some off the base at some point. Just ain't seeing a good way to drop it too much. Intake port is small, and low already. Not much room to raise the roof of it much without cutting into the strato passages.

Hell, I took it all apart once and mapped it, then put it back together stock to run some more fuel thru it.
