Very good info if ur correct:p and thank u!
So ur saying i have the small spline most likely, i need to look for micro. I check led HLSupply and couldnt find such thing. Couldnt even find under 210/250/yada/yada all the others that fall in the same catagory a lp version. It was either .325 or 3/8. The grinding adjuster hole sounds good except i remember the last bar i WAYNES WORLD'ED! Lol! And it wouldnt take much to strech the chain. I could prob remove the adjuster and get it stretched in no time. Im at the point in the game i wanna do thing rite and then realize i know how to modify later. Is there a site wer most guys use for parts other than HLS and LCS? Id like to find a site that has mostly OEM STUFF instead of the other way around. And im sure i dont know how to use the sites properly to begin with...its just frustrating.....I got in to this hobby to relax:D

I believe the 210/250 etc. come stock with 6 tooth spur sprockets. Your chain would very likely fit with that smaller sprocket. I prefer 6t 3/8lp for real small saws under 40cc or so, they cut faster and smoother for me. Supposedly you can find 6 tooth rim setups for 3/8lp but I've never seen one and according to the forums they're probably not worth the effort to track down.

Your rim doesn't seem to specify that it's low profile/picco, which is odd. A 3/8 rim and 3/8lp chain will seem to work ok initially, but they tear each other up before too long, so watch for that.

Rim type systems add a level of complexity as the drum will have a certain diameter (called mini (5/8"-stihl only?), small (3/4") standard (7/8")) with a number of splines to match the rim. This also means that certain rims can't exist, for instance you can't get a 7 tooth .325 sprocket in a standard size, as the diameter of the standard size (7/8") is larger than the diameter of the 7 .325 drivers trying to wrap around it. You also can't get a 3/8lp 6 tooth on small (3/4") for the same reason.

Stihl just calls 3/8 low profile "picco" for reasons only known to Stihl...speaking of which, there's not really a site to get OEM parts from them, Stihl wants you to go to a dealer and nowhere else. You can find some parts online, Baileys has some, eBay will have some, but Stihl is crazy about controlling their supply chain, including IPLs (they're available with a google search though). Plenty of OEM parts for the other manufacturers are available on sites, even HLS has lots of OEM husqvarna.

Lots of factors just in chainsaw drive systems...I tried to explain it to an intelligent coworker a while back, he was lost before we even got past pitch. He just brought his saw in, I ordered him what he needed.

The stock decomp on a 562 has the same problem as the stihl decomps... when more compression is added the valve pops out too easily. Plugging or not using the decomp is one way to resolve this, but it is harder on the recoil assembly. Some drill the holes on the original valve. I decided to do what some were doing on stihl’s and use a new Oem 372/385/395 decomp. Same thread size and length but the holes for releasing the pressure are larger... great for ported saw with higher compression. It does not pop halfway through pulling it anymore either. Dang! Very thorough! Thank u! I just measured my shaft:p of the clutch drum minus the splines. 3/4" exactly on my caliper. So i have the small shaft:p LOL i could do this all day:D so i need to find a small shaft rim for 3/8" LP.

That’s where you need the modded 3/8P rim. It’ll be modded to fit the small spline drum you have. Exactly the same issue I faced. Works very well, though.

Dang it thats rite, u said that last nite. Do they make a spur drum for a small 3/8" Lp? I dont care what it is as long as it spins a chain. Im not too picky. I got a rim cuz i thought they wer better and the saw i built was missing the drum and clutch so thats y i went that direction instead of a spur. What was the price tag to have a rim modded if ya dont mind me askin?

I’m sure they make one in 3/8LP that fits your saw, but I’m not too versed in Stihl, so I can’t help. The modded rim I think was $10-12 maybe. I can’t remember now. PM @Homelite410 He’ll be able to tell you.

I cut the corner out of my broken case to use to fix his broken case.

I then attached the corner to a recoil shell, and bolted it in place to ensure the holes would line up on the finished product. Although JB Weld may be stronger, the working time is way too short, so I used Loctite PL Premium. Plenty of working time, but you must really wait for it to dry.

When using on metal, rough it up and bit and make it a bit damp. I use a Q Tip in water for this. I just did enough to keep it in place, so when I removed the recoil cover I could finish the job.

Here it is. May not be pretty, but as long as it holds (and it will), the Tree Guy will be happy. A lot cheaper than installing a new case half. Heck, the saw still ran till the recoil crapped. Yea, I fixed that too.

The case will likely be stronger than it was before, PL Premium is strong stuff. Takes a full 24 hrs to dry, and then it keeps getting stronger with time.

I will drill a hole in the recoil using another recoil as a template, then probably insert a metal thing like they use for the chain brake handle. That way the screw will tighten on metal and not the glue.

Already installed the new guts in the recoil, and it works fine. Ironic, I just ordered those recoil kits (claws, clip, washer and rotor separately) from HR Supply last week, and yesterday this comes in, go figure! Was glad I already had the parts!
