Our government is a mad collection of corrupt bought out cock lickers at best. No *frenching way I'd trust any of them to watch my kids, let alone attempt to guide something as important as this.
That's the paradox. Society sliding into the abyss from a lack of accountability and oversight. On both personal/parenting and macro/governance levels. We've had generations of sliding standards where it is beyond doubt that on the whole, we have generally failed on the personal/micro level to raise a better generation than the one we are from, and yet we can't turn to a macro approach.

Essentially, unless we correct at least one of the micro or macro pathways to improving the situation, we will continue to fail future generations and society in general.

If we assume fixing macro/governance/state-level problems is too hard to try, and we accept there are too many people failing to parent well enough to leave the next generation in a better shape than the current one, then what can we do to change things without involving a collective/state solution, rather an individual or small community approach? Is there anything?

I gotta admit Jason......I'm not a fan of labeling them "idiot kids". Call someone an idiot long enough, and they begin to accept it as a fact.

I like to think that times have changed so much that they never had the learning opportunities we had. Mom and Dad both gotta work 60 hours a week just to provide for them. Schools not geared toward real life learning. Video games babysitting them.

Kids are just kids.......they only pick up on what they are shown. Looks to me like all this "progress" ain't such a great thing.

BTW.......my grandson at 14 years old can run any piece of equipment I have. He cuts firewood, rakes hay, builds fence.

Only because that's how he was raised.

Maybe we need more thought put into our working class and less put into the stock market?
And I omitted this in a earlier post of mine...but hand salute to the 14-yr old grandson who knows how to run equipment and whatnot. He’s a rare bird compared to a large percentage of his peers. I’d have him on my team in a NY minute...and I know you’re damn proud of him Randy.

Time to get back to the important stuff...chainsaws, tits, and ass!

@KiwiBro...brother, I don’t know how things operate down under...but the problems here in the good ol’ USA started many yrs ago when mom and/or dad’s right to wear their children’s asses out with a two inch leather belt ceased and came to a halt. Nowadays you get locked up, been that way for many yrs, and the ‘state’ you mention comes and removes the kids. The last thing we need is more ‘state’ involvement in a collective problem they created. We need to go back to tearing kids asses up when it’s warranted...and take away the participation trophy theory as well.

I agree with @Stump Shot Steve as well concerning teachers...but there’s the ‘state influence’ again...merely mandated by the states as to their newfound babysitting role. And if you’re a teacher and wanna paycheck, you’ll do what the state tells ya!

There’s a quaint little 12-week resort and spa sitting on the east coast in SC and on the west coast in CA...aka MCRD Parris Island and MCRD San Diego, for these kids that need a little pick me up, a little boost...they make you or break you, and your new mom and dads’ are highly skilled at it...and you get three hots and a cot...what’s not to like!

Damnit Jim (little Star-Trek lingo)...I said earlier back to chainsaws, tits, and ass! Lol

Bingo...and what are you crazy asses doing this evening? Getting ready to do a couple of NY strips, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and a couple of baked spuds here. The hunger has set in!

Just heading for the home front now. That sounds good. I might have to put something together for the Traeger.

I like to use the oven in the winter time.
Yep...that’s how I’m doing the bacon-wrapped asparagus. And the spuds in the 8-slice B&D convection toaster oven. I don’t mind a little extra heat in the house, I’m paying for it. Lol

Good afternoon Randy. I will do what I can lol.

Good man. Took longer than I thought it would. One post was in the old roadbed. Straight thru 16" of rip rap. Holy crap, my shoulders hurt from that spud bar.

Bringing back the draft is a great idea in my humble opinion.

Now........you are right. Time to leave that bullspit behind my friend.

I just had a good supper, but your bacon wrapped asparagus looks damn good !!!!!!

Great post, thanks. The collective will of posters seems to be to leave it alone so I'll respect that enough to not further the discussion even though I would like to.

It ends up coming back around to politics sooner or later. And.......one of the "rules" we have here has always been to try to avoid both politic, and religion. I was the one to put that rule in place because I'd rather see us united by the subject we came here for, rather than separated by subjects we can never all agree on.

So......I've been skating on thin ice by broaching this subject. Hell......I may have to ban myself. :D

Good deal. These idiot kids nowadays, most have never seen a manual trans. Took my driving test at 16 in a 280ZX...manual transmissions were all we knew coming up.
280zx those must of been brand new back then lol

Is DDave using a cannon to ship you piston now?
