Keith, I agree with CFB, .025-.030 is all I would take off the key, and mine are usually .078 to start (044/440 + 046/460).

The timing advance made a big difference on my brother's 460, and I think I only took .020 off the key, and it is not a ported saw. We had done a muff mod and HD-2, and you barely knew the difference till the timing advance. Then it woke right up.

I think with a timing advance, you may just leave it like it is! Give it a try, nothing to loose.
Started out at .085 and took the key to .050 today Mike. Made a huge difference with in cut rpm

image.jpeg Got tired of a 385 tank vent falling out. The hole in the tank where vent presses in was worn or ethanol warped it. New vent didn't fix issue. I wasn't planning on spending 100+$ on a new tank. I removed the vent and used a short piece of echo fuel line and echo tank vent that's used on there weedeaters. The hole has to be drilled slightly larger so the line fits through. Seems to work well so far.

Trying to put things together that were not intended to be, although from the same family.

Wow, that was a fat key. As mentioned, most I've checked have been .078, but I think I have also come across .076 and either .080 or .082. You win the fat key contest!

So, another vid is in order, and are you happy with it now???

Gettin there Mike. It no doubt had better in cut rpm with timing advance amd pulled good with a full comp 3/8 Archer chain with rakers at .030. Still 4 strokes at 14400

Waiting on part's
Building two more 372s
With 268 and 272 pistons
I likes how they run.
Need to try the 266 and full skirt options if there is any for 268 and 272 next.

Oil pan bolts rattled loose and it shook itself to death, and people say Huskys are bad about losing screws!
I sell more stihl muffler bolts for hand held blowers and ms192/193's than I can count. and we get quite a lot of loose bolts on ts420 mufflers, so bad it claps out the muffler holes and wrecks the mount holes in the cylinders...you'll never here me talk about stihls "far superior" fasteners. I'm not surprised really joe...just never seen that particular issue before. Looks pretty badass though.

Got another BR 600 on the bench right now that all of the engine pan bolts were loose, caught it before it did any real damage though.
