FS90R.....new carb, filter, spark plug, valve adjustment, and cleaning....she runs like a champ. Just need to grease the gear head.

How much grease is supposed to be on the shaft? I need to pull mine out and check it. Did everything else just a few weeks ago that you just did but check the shaft.

On the shaft itself? I just wipe grease on the shaft and slide it in. The I'll pull the bolt out of the gear head and top the grease off.

Thanks I have a slight vibration with mine at low rpms. I'll pull it out and see how much is on it.

Put a new WT215 carb on my Dad's stihl 025. It had a WT283c before. Saw runs like it should now. Oh and I drilled more holes in the baffle and opened up the muffler outlet. Woke this little thing up a bit.

I feel stupid. My spindle that was "worn out" just had a brake shoe on it to slow it down once you disengage the PTO. That's why it was feeling rough. Had no idea that was even there due to the stupid plastic cover on each side of the deck. I'm guessing because it is the discharge blade is the reason it needs to be slowed down. It was apparently fine. It did have some play in it when I got it off, and my new one has a grease spot. So not a total loss. I also know how to do it now if I get a customer needing it done as well.

A saw for a change!

Can you say AIR LEAK!!! This is on a 346XP that I ported and has been in commercial use for several years now. I went through the saw entirely because it wasn't performing correctly. It turned out that it was no longer going to WOT as the plastic end of the throttle rod and worn off. This seal has simply worn out, and worn the sealing lip off. The P&C and ring still look like new with almost no wear at all. I didn't even replace the ring. Thankfully, the operator is very good at tuning a saw, knew something wasn't right, and quit running it before the topend was hurt!

The saw would not idle down with the leaking seal. This is demonstrating that it can now be idled down until it dies.
